Course Reserves

What is a course reserve?

A course reserve is an item that an instructor has asked us to take from the main stacks and only allow students to use for an abbreviated period (traditionally, 1-4 hours), usually for in-library use only. Instructors do this so students can share a library-owned source to complete class readings or research.

Course reserves are available for check out at the Checkout Desk in the Information Center of the Mansfield Library. Search the course reserve tab on our home page (see screenshot above) to see what materials are on course reserve for your classes. In the course reserves tab you can search by:

  • Course ID ("BGEN 360")
  • Department ID ("PSYX")
  • Course instructor name ("Valerie Moody")
  • Course name ("Human Geography")
  • Item title ("Rock Art of Montana and the Northwest")

Bring the item's call number (the screenshot below shows you where to find the call number in OneSearch) to the Checkout Desk so our circulation staff can locate the item you need.
