University of Montana and Missoula College faculty are invited to apply for $200 OER Review Grants to provide a written review of an existing open textbook. The intent of these grants is to introduce instructors to OER and to encourage them to adopt or adapt the open textbook they choose to review. If you would like to review OER content other than a textbook, please contact us first.

Deadline

Completed applications will be accepted on a rolling basis throughout the Spring Semester and will be reviewed as they are received, beginning on March 4, 2019.

Eligibility

Any instructor of record for a course at UM and Missoula College is eligible for funding.

Note that the grant funds cannot be used to review already adopted open texts.

How to Apply and the Review Process

Complete the online application below. Complete submissions will be evaluated by members of UM’s OER Task Force Proposal Review Subcommittee. Review grants will be limited to one per person. It is preferred but not required that applicants identify the textbook they intend to review upon submission of the application.

Grant Disbursement

Grant funds will be distributed upon completion of the project deliverables.

Project Deliverables

• Grant recipients will email their final open textbook review to the Review Subcommittee by the last day of Spring Semester finals 2019.
• Grant recipients will be asked to complete a short survey intended to help the Review Subcommittee assess these OER Review Grants.

Suggested Open Textbook Repositories

Faculty may begin a search for OER to review using one of the repositories below. Additional repositories and resources are listed on the Find/Adopt OER tab in the OER guide. Faculty should consult the repository where they locate their open textbook for information about review rubrics. For example, faculty who review an open textbook from the Open Textbook Library should use the Open Textbook review rubric.
