Montana Journalists and Writers

Western authors make up a large portion of the fiction holdings in Archives and Special Collections. Many of these books were published between the turn of the century and the early 1970s. We have a fairly comprehensive collection of the published works of Myron Brinig, Dorothy Johnson, and Frank Bird Linderman, as well as the archival collections of Johnson and Linderman. Other writers with archival materials in Archives and Special Collections include H. G. Merriam, James Grady, Peter Bowen, Helen Addison Howard, and the poet Patricia Goedicke. Manuscript collections of journalists include the papers of Chet Huntley, Clarence Streit, Vern Haugland, and Elizabeth Maury Dean.
