Sam Thompson, UBikes Coordinator and Manager, said that many students on campus make use of the bikes for a quick run around campus or to ride to the grocery store. Students who live in residence halls often don’t have cars and the UBikes program allows them to still be mobile and get off campus for a meal or to run an errand.
Thompson strongly encouraged more students to take advantage of the Yellow Bikes. He said, “A nice thing about the program is that students don’t have to pay for it. It is entirely covered out of the ASUM Transportation fee that is paid with tuition.” He also mentioned that students can check out up to three bikes at a time. “It’s nice that you can check out three bikes at once, so that if your parents come to visit, you can all rent bikes and take them out for a ride on the river trail.”
