updated 8-8-2001 The Romance languages (Indo-Hittite) comprise one sub-branch of the Latin-Faliscan sub-branch of the Italic sub-branch of the Indo-European branch of the Indo-Hittite family of languages. The Romance languages are a well-documented example of mother and daughter languages. The following are the Romance languages: Latin, Catalan, Dalmatian, French, Italian, Moldavian, Portuguese, Provencal, Rhaeto-Romanic, Rumanian, Sardinian, Sephardic, and Spanish. Individual lists may also be found under most of these languages. Listed here are works about the Romance languages as a whole, or about a number of them. updated 8-8-2001 Provencal (Indo-Hittite) belongs to the Romance sub-branch of the Latin-Faliscan sub-branch of the Italic sub-branch of the Indo-European branch of the Indo-Hittite family of languages. Also called Occitan (after 1500), Occitani, and Langue D'oc, Provencal has been spoken since the time of Charlemagne, which was about when Latin split into the various Romance languages.
