Oscan was spoken on the Italian peninsula approximately 200-1 B.C. Rhaeto-Romanic

updated 4-8-2002 Rhaeto-Romanic (Indo-Hittite) belongs to the Romance sub-branch of the Latin-Faliscan sub-branch of the Italic sub-branch of the Indo-European branch of the Indo-Hittite family of languages. Also called Rhetian (not to be confused with Rhaetian) and Rhaeto-Romance, Rhaeto-Romanic is the fourth language of Switzerland. Rhaeto-Romanic has several dialects: Friulian, Ladin (not to be confused with Ladino), and Romansh. Rumanian

updated 3-20-2001 Rumanian (Indo-Hittite), also spelled Romanian and Roumanian, belongs to the Romance sub-branch of the Latin-Faliscan sub-branch of the Italic sub-branch of the Indo-European branch of the Indo-Hittite family of languages. Rumanian is spoken in the country of Rumania. It has retained more archaic features than the other Romance languages, and also shows influences from Albanian, Hungarian, and the various Slavic languages. A dialect called Moldavian is spoken in the country of Moldavia, and is written with the Cyrillic alphabet. Moldavian is the only Romance language spoken in the area of the former Soviet Union. Sephardic

updated 1-25-2001 Sephardic (Indo-Hittite) belongs to the Romance sub-branch of the Latin-Faliscan sub-branch of the Italic sub-branch of the Indo-European branch of the Indo-Hittite family of languages. Sephardic grew up as a variety of Spanish spoken by the Jews in Spain. It therefore has Hebrew elements in it. Also called Ladino (not to be confused with Ladin, a dialect of Rhaeto-Romanic), Judezmo, Judeo-Spanish, and Judeo-Espagnol, Sephardic today is spoken in France, England, the Netherlands, Germany, Albania, Bulgaria, Egypt, Israel, Greece, Rumania, Yugoslavia, and Turkey by descendants of Jews who were expelled from Spain in 1492.
