Mansfield Library Classroom and Meeting Room Policies
Use of UM Mansfield Library Meeting Rooms
Mansfield Library meeting rooms have been designated for general, instructional, and special purpose use by The University of Montana faculty, staff, and students. The following general descriptions and use guidelines apply to all meeting rooms. Please link to each location for room-specific descriptions and guidelines.
General Descriptions
The Buckhous Room, a general meeting room, is used for the following purposes (in priority order):
- To conduct the business of the libraries.
- To conduct the business of the university.
- To support the research and instruction mission of the university.
The Student Learning Center has been designated for library instruction. Instruction is the first priority and therefore the room may not be available for meetings.
Special purpose rooms are the Poetry Corner and the Theta Rho Room. The Poetry Corner is primarily used as a library study area and seminar room. The Theta Rho Room is primarily a library study area that may also be used as an event space for Mansfield Library-sponsored events.
General Use Guidelines
- University faculty, staff, and students may schedule a meeting room on a non-recurring basis only.
- Exceptions to the general or room-specific use guidelines may be approved only by the Dean of Libraries.
- Food and drink may be allowed during special events in accordance with University Catering Services policy.
- A $75.00 cleanup fee will be charged when food is served.
- All personal belongings are the sole responsibility of the owner.
- Technical support for Library equipment is provided by the Library’s Technology and Systems Services.
Scheduling
- Except library faculty and staff who have been granted access to the library’s electronic room scheduling calendar, meeting room reservations can be made by calling the Library’s Administrative Office at 406.243.6800 at least three working days in advance.
