Non-University Requests for Library Instruction Policy

GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • All general requests should be directed to Merinda McLure, Library Instruction Coordinator, 243-2864.
  • Classes may be scheduled during university breaks. A copy of the current Mansfield Library calendar is forwarded each September to the principals and librarians of regional high schools. During regular semesters, priority will be given to university classes.
  • High School teachers and librarians are encouraged to attend the regional UM library workshop designed to establish a cooperative teaching approach to library resources at the Mansfield Library.
  • General tours will only be scheduled when the visiting instructor conducts the tour. Self- guided tours for individuals or small groups are available.

INSTRUCTION

  • High Schools
    • Only assignment related classes will be scheduled.
    • School librarian schedules and teaches class in conjunction with subject teachers.
    • Teacher/parent to student ratio should be 1 to 10.
    • Coin operated copy machines are available throughout the library.
    • Formatted computer disks are available at Copy Services.

 

  • Middle Schools, Junior High Schools, and Elementary Schools
    • Use of Public Library is recommended as age appropriate.
    • Exceptions will be made for specific class assignments that need resources only available at Mansfield Library and that meet the general guidelines.

TEACHERS AND OTHER GROUPS

  • Resource related workshops will be provided according to the general guidelines.
