Flat Screen Television Guidelines and Protocol

Location:

Two flat-screen television monitors are mounted in the main lobby on level 3.

One flat-screen television monitor is mounted in the Newspaper area on level 1.

Purpose:

The flat-screen monitors provide an additional tool for the distribution of information in support of the Mansfield Library mission “to provide a quality-based learning and research environment,” and “provide[s] users the dynamic services essential to identify and access information.” Multimedia expands the ways in which the library can distribute information and is designed to address the needs of library users who prefer this medium. Additionally, this method of information transmission is frequently utilized as an alternative to print.

Management:

  • Technology & Systems Services oversees the technical implementation and maintenance of the flat screens.
  • The Information & Research Services Division is responsible for content.
  • Level 3 monitors will host a simulcast of information:
    • Content is for library functions, activities, and services only.
    • All library personnel are solicited for relevant content at the beginning of each semester.
    • All library personnel are encouraged to submit information on all library activities and events to the Head of Information & Research Services Division.
    • Reference technicians design and edit content.
    • The Head of Information & Research Services Divisions approves final content.
    • Special national events/emergencies will be broadcast as a live cable news feed.
  • The Level 1 monitor will provide a live cable news feed.
