Personal Summary

Julie Biando Edwards is an Associate Professor and the Ethnic Studies Librarian and Diversity Coordinator at the Mansfield Library at the University of Montana in Missoula. She is a recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship. A public librarian at heart, she began her career working in public libraries in Wyoming and Massachusetts. She holds an MSLIS from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, an MA in English Literature from the University of Connecticut, and a BA in English Literature from The University of Montana. She has authored several articles, chapters, and books including  Beyond Article 19: Libraries and Social and Cultural Rights (edited with Stephan P. Edwards) and Transforming Libraries, Building Communities: The Community Centered Library (coauthored with Melissa S. Robinson and Kelley Rae Unger) Her interests are in public libraries and community engagement.

Hobbies

I enjoy overlanding, hiking and backpacking, reading, road trips, photography, running, baking, and spending time with family and friends. My absolute passion is travel: my tally so far is 19 countries in North America, Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
