INFORMATION & RESEARCH SERVICES DIVISION

The Information and Research Services Division (IRSD) of Mansfield
Library supports the research, teaching and learning needs of
University of Montana students, faculty and staff. IRSD provides
research and instructional services to enable access, evaluation and
use of the library’s online, print and media information resources.


Key Services


Research Assistance
. Assistance is available in-person at the Information Center, through individual consultations with your liaison librarian, by phone, email, IM, and text. See our contact information below.


Library Instruction
. Library instruction is course integrated. Liaison librarians work with teaching faculty to integrate information literacy concepts and skills into course curricula. Community instruction is provided, per request.


Technical Support
. Assistance on the use of the library’s public
and multi-media computers
, including specialized software, is available
in-person at the Information Center.

Staff are available to chat 24/7. NOTE: this service is staffed by UM
librarians as well as other librarians from Montana and the nation.

Text (beta service fall 2009). 406/274-2263.

Staff are available to answer text messages from 11am-4pm on
weekdays, 1-6pm on Saturday, and 1-9pm on Sunday. Text messages will be
responded to as soon as possible. NOTE: Cell phone service providers
may charge for sent or received text messages. By sending a text
message, you give Mansfield Library staff permission to reply to your
text message. Your privacy is important to us. All text messages sent
to and from the Text a Librarian service are directed through standard
telecommunication and Internet channels. Mansfield Library’s Text a
Librarian utilizes Verizon Wireless. Verizon Wireless’ Privacy Policy
