Megan Dazey Catalog Database Section Head megan.dazey@umontana.edu Phone: (406) 243-4728 Core Responsibilities: The Catalog Database Section Head provides expertise and leadership in the acquisition and cataloging of monographs, media and music. This includes management of the Approval Plan, copy cataloging, work flows, collection management, and project design and implementation. Performs professional librarian work as an original cataloger within the UM Library. Work involves knowledge of current electronic, computer and other library technological systems (including hardware and software), familiarity with professional cataloging practices and standards, project management, and supervision of staff. She works closely with other division heads and team leaders as well as the Dean to facilitate effective communication and positive working relationships library wide. |
![]() Teressa Keenan Core Responsibilities: The Metadata & Continuing Resources Section Head provides expertise and leadership in the acquisition and cataloging of serials, e-resources and cartographic materials. This includes professional oversight of the processes and staff that support the acquisition and cataloging of serials and digital production, including management of copy cataloging, metadata entry, workflows, collection management, and project design and implementation. Works with Digital Library Initiatives to oversee metadata quality control of digital collections and establish relevant policies, procedures, and workflows. Performs professional librarian work as an original cataloger within the UM Library. Work involves knowledge of current electronic, computer and other library technological systems (including hardware and software), familiarity with professional cataloging practices and standards, project management, and supervision of staff. Carol Leese Acquisitions Process Manager carol.leese@umontana.edu Phone: (406) 243-5926 Core Responsibilities: The Acquisitions Process Manager works in conjunction with the section heads to oversee the management of the BMS Unit. This role includes coordination of activities that relate to the acquisitions of monographs/media, managing the ledgers and fund accounts, monitoring the YBP approval plan shipments and the processing of GOBI orders. This individual will track the day to day progress of projects that relate to her area. The Manager will handle all gift donations of a monographic nature, working with librarians for the reception, review, and cataloging of the material. The Manager is responsible for all scheduling of personnel, maintaining an online departmental calendar, and providing input for performance reviews. She will oversee the binding operations in BMS. She will work closely with student supervisors, providing leadership and guidance. The Manager will work closely with other division heads and team leaders as well as the Dean to facilitate effective communication and positive working relationships library wide. |

Ryan Colling Print Resources Technician ryan.colling@umontana.edu Phone: (406) 243-6731 Core Responsibilities: The Print Technician is responsible for all aspects of ordering and receiving print subscriptions and standing orders, including but not limited to vendor contacts, purchase orders, invoice payments, and receiving/check-in. The Technician additionally must track subscriptions for claiming purposes, process renewals and cancellations, manage Holding and Item records in the catalog, open and close print components, maintain fund code assignations, and perform material transfers as needed. The Print Technician also serves as student supervisor and works closely with other serials team members and BMS personnel to complete special projects as needed. |
Holly Dufresne Acquisitions/Cataloging Technician holly.dufresne@umontana.edu Phone: (406) 243-6733 Core Responsibilities: The Acquisitions/Cataloging Technicians are primarily responsible for ordering and cataloging all books for the Mansfield Library, COT, the Herbarium and the Biological Station. This cataloging includes books received through our approval plan with YBP as well those individually ordered and any approved gifts/donations we may receive. The monograph unit also orders and catalogs items for these collections: Children's, Curriculum, the Montana Collection, Special Collections, and the State Collection. We also order and catalog any book replacements and take care of any monographic retro-conversion items. In addition these technicians may serve on a variety of committees and provide assistance with other tasks as necessary. |

Duties include supervision of digital projects student employees, project management, and manipulation of electronic images. |
Christa Fehrer Serials Cataloging Technician christa.fehrer@umontana.edu Phone: (406) 243-6731 Core Responsibilities: The Serials Cataloging Technician is primarily responsible for cataloging and classifying continuing, integrating, and electronic resources for the library. Serves as serials team cataloging specialist. This position maintains bibliographic and holdings data in both the online catalog and the remote bibliographic utility for all types of continuing resources. The Serials Cataloging Technician also performs retrospective cataloging, creates records for title changes and is responsible for cleaning up problems with serials, monographic series and integrating resources. This position works other special projects and may serve on a variety of library committees. |
Jeff Hjelt Documents Processing Cartographic & Gov Docs Cataloging Technician jeff.hjelt@umontana.edu Phone: (406) 243-6862 Core Responsibilities: The Cartographic & Gov. Docs Cataloging Technician is mainly responsible for copy cataloging of all cartographic materials in the Mansfield Library. In addition this position also performs retrospective cataloging of government documents. He assigns LC, Dewey, or SuDoc classification for each item as appropriate. He is also responsible for acquisitions of cartographic materials as requested by the liaison librarians. In addition the cartographic materials cataloging technician may serve on a variety of committees or assist with special projects as needed. |
Marian Lankston Government Documents Technician marian.lankston@umontana.edu Phone: (406) 243-6862 Core Responsibilities: The Government Documents Technician oversees all aspects of processing government documents received through the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP), through direct shipments from government agencies, and through donations. Technician also performs copy cataloging of government documents, handles government documents processing problems, including claims, advanced Administrative Notes Technical Supplements (ANTS) corrections, Marcive reports, cataloging review, and other cleanup issues. Replaces, withdraws, and discards documents. Retrospectively catalogs government document collections. Supervises government documents student in collecting mail, checking in and physical processing of shipments, filing shipping lists, discards, and reclassing Serials Set and Statutes at Large. |
Beverly Maas Binding Assistant beverly.maas@umontana.edu Phone: (406) 243-6863 Core Responsibilities: The Binding Assistant collects journals from the stacks and sends them off to the bindery every 28 days. When they come back from the bindery the assistant takes the bound journals out of the boxes, checks to make sure they are accurate, changes their status on Voyager, and then shelves the finished product. Assistant inspects and sorts the first class mail and also performs the monograph acquisitions receiving. New books coming from book publishers like YBP, Barnes and Noble, Amazon etc. need to be unboxed, matched to the invoice, checked for flaws and received on Voyager. |
Leslie Rieger Music Cataloging Technician leslie.rieger@umontana.edu Phone: (406) 243-6733 Core Responsibilities: The Music Cataloging Technician is primarily responsible for the cataloging of musical scores and sound recordings. Technician also provides backup services in the acquisition of media materials and maintains BMS web pages. May also serve on various library committees and perform special projects as needed. |
Jennifer Rusk Electronic Resources Technician jennifer.rusk@umontana.edu Phone: (406) 243-6731 Core Responsibilities: The Electronic Resources Technician serves as an acquisitions specialist. This includes being the contact person with publishers, and vendors, as well as the primary contact for electronic resource acquisitions within the library and library system. This position manages the access and availability of all electronic resources and troubleshoots access problems. |
Danette Seiler Multi-Format Cataloging/Acquistions Technician danette.seiler@umontana.edu Phone: (406) 243-6733 Core Responsibilities: The Multi-format Cataloging/Acquisitions Technician is primarily responsible for cataloging non-print materials for the Mansfield Library. This includes, but is not limited to art prints, cartographic materials, electronic resources (CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs, etc), games, kits, realia, slides, sound recordings, and videorecordings (Blu-ray, DVDs, VHS, etc.). She/he will also assist the Music Cataloging Technician in the cataloging of music scores, and in the acquisition/ordering of media and music materials. In addition, the technician will work on retroactive cataloging and other special projects, and may serve on a variety of committees and provide assistance with other duties as necessary. |
Pat Turnage Media Acquisitions/Cataloging Technician pat.turnage@umontana.edu Phone: (406) 243-2860 Core Responsibilities: The Media Acquisitions/Cataloging Technician is primarily responsible for ordering and cataloging non-print (media) items as well as music scores for the Mansfield Library, COT and the Biological Station. This includes, but is not limited to videorecordings, sound recordings, art reproductions, etc. acquired through purchase, local production or as gifts/donations. She also orders and catalogs any media replacements, withdraws the lost/damaged media items and takes care of any media retro-conversion items. In addition, Pat may serve on a variety of committees and provide assistance with other duties as necessary. |
Steve White Media Cataloging Technician steven.white@umontana.edu Phone: (406) 243-2860 Core Responsibilities: The Media Cataloging Technician is responsible for cataloging various media materials for the Mansfield Library, primarily videos and DVD's for COT and music sound recordings. He also catalogs some print materials such as books and music scores. |
